MODULE 1: INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the first module of this e-learning!

This module is about sustainable development goals and climate change and consists of 4 weeks of work. Every week deals with a different topic and will be completed with an assignment. To check your knowledge, you can complete these for yourself. At the end of the module, you will find a multiple-choice test. You can upload your answers and will receive feedback immediately.

In the first week, you will learn about the UN sustainable development goals. These 17 goals are aimed to change the world for the better. Of great importance is the interdependency of these goals.

In the second week the focus will shift towards climate change: what is it? And what are the important aspects and signs of climate change? A logical continuation of this is the question of what causes climate change, and what are its effects. This will be dealt with in week 3. The final week in this module is about one of the important effects of climate change: heat waves. You will learn about this phenomenon, which is a necessary base for the next modules of this e-learning.

For this module, the following subgoals have been formulated:

1: The caregiver can explain the different UN sustainable development goals
2: The caregiver can explain the phenomenon of climate change
3: The caregiver gains a comprehensive understanding of the primary causes and effects of climate change
4: The caregiver is able to asses his own carbon footprint by exploring lifestyle choices that contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, such as energy consumption, transportation habits, and consumption patterns.
5: The caregiver is able to make an infographic about heatwaves.

As mentioned in the general introduction, the assignments in this e-learning course are purely formative. When you come across terms like "knowledge check," "test," or "assignment," see them as an invitation to engage rather than a requirement. You are not obligated to complete them, and they will not be reviewed by a teacher or professional.

However, if you are taking this course with colleagues or friends, these exercises can be a great way to challenge each other, spark discussions, and reinforce your learning together. They offer an opportunity to deepen your understanding in an interactive and engaging way, making the learning experience more enjoyable and effective. Ultimately, the goal is to provide you with the flexibility to learn in a way that best suits you.
